War. What is it good for?

Yesterday while watching a special coverage on the Beirut bombings they interviewed a Lebanese civilian that said “Before I hated the Israelis 60% and now its 110%” Doesn’t hatred beget hatred? Aren’t they sowing more seeds of hatred by resorting to violence. I am not going to play the blame game here. Where’s the humanity? If you peel away the layers of social norms and religious antics, what do you have left? A human being. Why is it so easy to be consumed by anger, hatred, jealousy, bigotry and hypocrisy?

I am not saying let’s all join hands and sing “we are the world.” And not plea like a beauty contestant “I wish for world peace.” But someones has to take responsibility and I blame the US. Yes, the big daddy. They were the first ones to ignore the UN and go ahead and bomb Iraq. So, why little brother Israel should do any different? Bilateral talks, diplomatic resolutions. Screw that. We are like the Texan cowboys, heehaw. Let’s bomb Beirut.

Who cares that they destroyed Lebanon’s only International airport. Destroyed most of its roads, infrastructure and basically left it desolated. My heart goes out to the Lebanese. Hope you see a ceasefire soon and are able to get back on your feet.
